Women’s Education in Mon County (Virtual)
The Aull Center presents a virtual program about Women’s Education in Mon County, especially at WVU. Tune in on Facebook to learn about how WVU was built on the grounds of three former academies: the Monongalia Academy of 1814, the Morgantown Female Academy of 1831, and Woodburn Female Seminary of 1858. The program will focus on WVU’s role in women’s education when WVU was a women’s seminary school, and how women’s education was affected after the establishment of WVU. The goal of the presentation is to understand the change of opportunity and value in women’s education in the Morgantown region and to share personal historical accounts from these women. The discussion will be facilitated by Mike and Matt from the Aull Center.
