What Do I Need to Get a Library Card?
You must present documents that 1) prove identity and 2) prove you live in West Virginia. Minors under 16 must have an adult present. A photo ID (such as a driver’s license) that includes your current mailing address will be sufficient. If your photo ID does not have a current address, you would need to show documentation to prove your place of residence.

Not a resident of West Virginia?
Out-of-State cards are available for $20 a year.
- New cards are limited to 5 items in the first loan period. After, patrons may borrow up to 99 items at a time.
- Library cards expire yearly. To renew your card, call, email, or stop in to verify your address. You can find out when your card expires by creating an online account.

How Do I Apply for a Digital Library Card?

I already have a library card, can I still sign up?
If you already have a general library card, you do not need to sign up for this new card. You already have access to both the library’s digital and physical collections.
What happens after I submit my application?
Once the application is processed, you will receive a library card and a welcome packet in the mail.
